Choose YOUR body-type!

We all have unique shaped bodies that is what makes us “us”. In this blog I am going to identify some of the mainstream body types, along with the clothing that most suits and flatters these shapes.

Banana body shape: Their measurements will be similar across the hips, waist & bust. Not many curves are present; they will also have an “athletic” appearance.

Apple body shape: Their bust is average in size and they are slightly bigger around the waist than the hips. Their bum is usually flat, not round.

Pear body shape: Hips and thighs will be the pear shapes largest measurements. They are generally smaller around the bust, waist and shoulders.

Hourglass body shape: The hourglass body shapes largest measurements will be their hips and bust. They have a smaller nipped in waist, just like an “hourglass”.

Clothing choices:

Banana:       Dresses or tops that have ruffles, beading or a belt around the waist.
Layered t-shirts, boat neck tops, blouses and tailored jackets.

Apple:          Wrap dresses, loose poet sleeves, cardigans, shrugs, A-line skirts.

Pear:            Halter tops, strappy tops, A-line skirts and dresses, boot-cut denim jeans.

Hourglass:   Pencil skirts, blouses, good fitting bra, v-neck t-shirts, wide-legged low waist
pants that fasten on the side.

Finding your own style!

Style shouldn’t be “defined”; it is what you feel most confident and fabulous in! Although there are many different styles, most have been defined by designers, celebrities and brands. At the end of the day the spin (such as that bright colored accessory) that you put on your own personal style, makes it unique and your own!

For my first blog I am going to define some of the “mainstream” styles that we have within today’s society. You will more than likely find yourself falling into one of these categories or even more than one. Lifestyle obviously plays a big part! Some people like to mix and match their styles, nothing wrong with that! Just remember less is more!

Which one of the following sounds most like you?

Classic: elegant, solid colours, allot of black and white, occasional stripe, tailored, knee length skirts, dark denim, plain flats – Simple, Feminine & French

Sporty: low maintenance, athletic, t-shirts, jeans, shorts, sweaters, minimal accessories, flat shoes/runners – Outdoorsy & Relaxed

Preppy: Polo Ralph Lauren, clean cut, youthful, collared shirts, brand labels, relaxed pant, loafers, ballet flats – Casual yet Elegant

Bohemian: loose flowing styles, vintage pieces, light, ripped denim, floral prints, loves accessories, maxi dresses - Earthy & Eclectic

Hipster: skinny jeans, faded band t-shirt, unpolished, ripped jeans, over sized shirts, scarf’s, converse sneakers, ray-bans – Urban & Alternative

Trendsetter: cropped denim vest, leggings, ankle boots, vintage pieces, bright colours, wears the latest trends, anything goes – Bold & Brave

Now you can identify which style-trend you most prefer or fit into, it will be much easier knowing the “look” you intend on purchasing next time you are shopping up a storm!

Watch out for my next blog to identify your body type!
